LDS063. LNER Gresley Class P2/2 2-8-2 Loco and Tender No. 2005 'Thane of Fife' as a RESTORATION PROJECT. In LNER lined apple green livery. This is part scratchbuilt and part kitbuilt to an amateur standard based on an Ace brass kit. Painted by Dennis Morley (signed). Fitted with an ABC type multi-stage gearbox with a Maxon motor, Slaters wheels and very good cab detail. Additionally fitted with DCC and sound using an ESU Loksound chip (address 2005). This is a used model in running order but with a few issues. (1) The crankpin into the driving wheel is loose on one side. (2) the cylinder drainpipes on one side are partly detached and need resoldering. (3) The model requires a general tidy-up. The prototype was into service from Doncaster Works in August 1936 as the fifth of the six P2's built for the Edinburgh to Aberdeen service, on which the class proved unsuccessful . It was rebuilt by Thompson as A2/2 in 1943 due to reliability issues, the first of the six to have this treatment. Withdrawal as BR No. 60505 came from New England (Peterborough) in November 1959.
