LSL116. London & North Western Railway Bowen-Cooke ‘George V’ 4-4-0 and Tender No. 1188 ‘Penmaenmawr’. In lined LNWR blackberry black livery. This is very well built and painted from a brass kit which I suspect may have been from Janick Models (assuming they did a kit for this class). Fitted with a Buhler motor, multi-stage ABC type gearbox, Slaters wheels, a little bit of compensation on the loco, and with very good cab detail. The model is well weighted and is lightly used. The prototype was into service from Crewe Works in April 1913, being renumbered by the LMS to No. 5392, and was withdrawn in February 1941 having been renumbered again by the LMS to No. 25392. Penmaenmawr is a holiday destination on the North Wales coast once known for the patronage of William Gladstone whose cousin lived nearby. Also known for its quarry, possibly that has something to do with the LNWR connection (plus the fact that the LNWR main line from Chester to Holyhead runs between the town and the beach). PRICE REDUCTION TO £995.
