LWA01. Great Northern Railway Ivatt Class C1 4-4-2 Large Boilered Atlantic No. 251. In fully lined GNR green livery with chocolate frames lined in red. Built by Ken Mason and painted by John Cockroft. This is from a prototype Gladiator brass kit and fitted with a Canon motor, ABC type multi-stage gearbox, Slaters wheels, a tiny bit of compensation on the leading driving wheels, and with excellent cab detail. The model is very lightly used and probably needs 6ft radius curves due to a limited swing on the front bogie. The prototype No. 251 was into service from Doncaster Works in December 1902 as the first of the C1 class, with the class eventually totalling 94 locos by 1910. No. 251 became LNER No. 3251 in 1925 and subsequently No. 2800 in the 1946 LNER renumbering scheme. Having spent its last 20 years at Kings Cross it was withdrawn in July 1947 and preserved as part of the National Collection. £1195.
