Lazonby and Kirkoswald (LMS)

Built and recently completed to exhibition standard by Peter Smith of Kirtley Model Buildings. Now offered for sale due to ill health.

Overall dimensions are approximately 20 ft x 11 ft 1 inch feet measured on the baseboards.

The outside track radius is circa 5ft with a minimum radius on the inner tracks of circa 4ft. Peco track has been used.

The layout is very loosely based on Lazonby (Settle and Carlisle) in LMS days with a fictitious branch line to the real village of Kirkoswald, and with a random locomotive depot and turntable.

All the buildings are based on prototypes and everything has been executed to Peter Smith's very high standards. Peter is a full time architectural model maker specialising in railway buildings. He is a published author on this subject.

The layout is on legs and ¾ inch boards. It was built in Peter's workshop and then assembled on site. Having previously moved relatively easily between two different locations there is an assumption that disassembly and re-assembly elsewhere would not be too difficult.

Electronically it is fully DCC with all functions, points, turntable and signals DCC controlled using Lenz equipment and all included in the sale.

Note that whilst the layout and trackwork, all buildings, turntable, signals and electronics are included in the sale all rolling stock and road vehicles are excluded from the sale.

The layout is currently assembled and in working order in West Wales and any viewings by seriously interested parties must take place there. However, Steamline Ltd is managing the sale and all contact, discussions and requests for further information should be via telephone or email to Steamline Ltd. (Email – enquiries@steamline.co.uk, Telephone – 01422-201247 9am to 6pm). Please send any requests for further information by email in the first instance.

The original cost of the layout is in the order of £27,000. Offers are invited based on a figure of £8,000. The purchaser must be responsible for disassembly and relocation.
