LSTH02. BR ex- LMS Stanier ‘Duchess’ Pacific 4-6-2 and Tender No. 46245 ‘City of London’. In lined BR maroon livery with late crest and shedplate 1B Camden, but without Automatic Warning System equipment or electrification flashes fitted. Paired with a de-streamlined tender which it received in 1945 when it did a 'swop' with that from No. 46244 'King George VI' and retained until withdrawal. This represents one of the original 'streamlined' Duchesses following de-streamlining which occurred in 1947. The model is by Sancheng for Finescale Brass and has all the the usual Sancheng detailing such as opening smokebox door and tender filler cap, compensated chassis and excellent cab detail. The model has been used as a 'display case' model only plus lubrication and light testing by ourselves. It is supplied in an original Finescale Brass 'Duchess' box (but not the one originally supplied with this model). The prototype was into service from Crewe Works in June 1943 going first to Camden as they all seemed to do. However with the name 'City of London' it stayed there until September 1963. It then went just up the road to Willesden until withdrawal which came in September 1964. It had a double chimney from new and smoke deflectors fitted in August 1947. It carried this BR maroon livery with late crest and LMS style lining from December 1957 (the first 'Duchess' to receive it) until withdrawal. £2200.
