LGD04. BR ex- LNER Gresley Class A3 Pacific 4-6-2 and Tender No. 60103 ‘Flying Scotsman’. With a single chimney, banjo dome, paired with a non-corridor tender and in lined BR green with early crest and shedplate 34A Kings Cross (so modelled here as running circa 1954 to 1957). This is from a Martin Finney kit built and painted by Chris Wesson with his maker’s plate on the underside. Fitted with AGH (Alan Harris) cast steel wheels, a Portescap motor/gearbox, compensation on the loco and tender, American pickup system and with superb cab detail and crew. The model is lightly used and requires minimum 6ft radius curves. The cab roof is detachable. The prototype was into service from Doncaster Works to Doncaster shed in February 1923 as No. 1472, an A1 Pacific. It was renumbered by the LNER to No. 4472 in March 1924 and again in May 1946 under the LNER renumbering scheme to No. 103. It was rebuilt as an A3 in January 1947 and renumbered by BR to No. 60103 in December 1948. It went to Leicester (G.C) shed in June 1950 and from 1953 spent its last 10 years either at Grantham or Kings Cross from where it was withdrawn in January 1963. Its subsequent purchase fr preservation by Alan Pegler and its long and varied history in preservation is well documented. £1995.
