LJWN34. LNER Gresley Class A3 Pacific 4-6-2 No. 4472 ‘Flying Scotsman’ as a RESTORATION PROJECT. In lined LNER apple green livery running as preserved with a double chimney and German-type smoke deflectors. Paired with a corridor tender. This is a used model in brass by Sancheng for Bachmann Brass with very good cab detail. It has a number of issues as follows. (1) The cylinder drain pipes are missing. (2) Cab glazing is needed. (3) It is a reluctant runner, probably the wheels and pickups need a good clean, so it is sold as a non-runner. Supplied in a plain box. The prototype was into service from Doncaster Works to Doncaster shed in February 1923 as No. 1472, an A1 Pacific. It was renumbered by the LNER to No. 4472 in March 1924 and again in May 1946 under the LNER renumbering scheme to No. 103. It was rebuilt as an A3 in January 1947 and renumbered by BR to No. 60103 in December 1948. It went to Leicester (G.C) shed in June 1950 and from 1953 spent its last 10 years either at Grantham or Kings Cross from where it was withdrawn in January 1963. Its subsequent purchase by Alan Pegler and its long and varied history in preservation is well documented. £495 as a RESTORATION PROJECT.
