LSL91. An Aster Gauge 1 Live Steam Model of Collett GWR 'King' 4-6-0 and Tender No. 6000 'King George V'. In fully lined GWR green livery with garter crest as used circa 1906 to 1927/28. This is a factory built model by Aster Hobbies of Japan for Fulgurex (number 80 of a Limited Edition series as shown on the box and on a maker's plate inside the cab). As can be seen from the mint condition shown in the photographs, it has never been steamed. The scale is 1:32 (45mm) and overall length is 66.4cm over buffers. The model is in brass and stainless steel with a copper boiler, spirit fired (Methyl Alcohol), and fitted with a host of features including - Axle Driven Water Pump, 4 Cylinders with slide valve (Bore: 11mm x Stroke: 20mm), Walschaerts Valve Gear with screw reverser, Safety valve, Pressure gauge, Water gauge, Blower valve, Regulator valve, Roscoe Displacement type lubricator (in the smokebox), Tender mounted hand pump. The model has been used for display purposes only and comes with its original Aster box, manuals, accessories, photograph of a painting of the loco, tools and display track (track not shown in photos). Note that the model is shown in the photos on a display plinth but this is not included in the sale. If the next owner plans to steam it then it is recommended that it should first be checked over by a live steam engineer as a safety precaution. The 'King' was one of the first (if not the first) of the UK outline Gauge 1 Live Steam models produced by Aster in Japan, and the 'new' price is 1999 was £3495. It is now rare to find an unused, unsteamed example. Due to the box size and value insured shipping (UK and International) is by DHL only at cost price. The prototype was into service from Swindon Works in June 1927 and was withdrawn from Old Oak Common in December 1962 after covering close to 2 million miles.
