LDR12. LNER Peppercorn Class A2 Pacific 4-6-2 and Tender No. 525 'A. H. Peppercorn'. In LNER lined green livery with Gill Sans lettering as used circa 1946 - 1949. This is almost certainly from a DJH whitemetal and brass kit and fitted with a multi-stage gearbox (not sure of the motor type), Slaters wheels, a little bit of compensation on the leading two loco axles, extra pickups on the tender, and excellent cab detail with crew. This is a used model from a working layout. The prototype was into service from Doncaster Works to Doncaster shed in December 1947 so being an LNER loco for only a matter of days. It soon became BR No. 60525 and was withdrawn from Aberdeen Ferryhill in March 1963 having been there since August 1949. It was in Doncaster Works in February 1963 for a 'light casual' overhaul so it is unlikely to have made it all the way back to Ferryhill just to be withdrawn. However, stranger things happened in the rush to dispose of such modern steam locos with 20 years or more life left in them. £995.
