CDS116. Rake of Eight LNER ‘Coronation’ Stock Articulated Twin-Set Coaches. In LNER blue and silver livery representing 'spare' set No. 105. These are kit/scratch built by Philip Preston with his maker's plates on some of the undersides and comprise of the following articulated twin-sets. (1) Brake/ Dining Third E1731 (Coach 'A') and Kitchen/Dining Third E1732 (Coach 'B'). (2) All First/Dining First E1733 (Coach 'C') and All First/Dining First E1734 (Coach 'D'). (3) All Third/Dining Third E1735 (Coach 'E') and Kitchen/Dining Third E1736 (Coach 'F'). (4) All Third/Dining Third E1737 (Coach 'G') and (Brake/Dining Third E1738 (Coach 'H'). These are used models with a small amount of the silver trim detached or missing, plus one or two of the applied numbers. They have screw couplings on the brake ends for attaching to a loco. The ‘Coronation’ ran between Kings Cross and Edinburgh Waverley and was inaugurated in July 1937, running up to the war with a streamlined Observation Car added in summer. The coaches were put in store for the duration of the war then returned in BR days from 1948 as general service stock. Note that the spare set did not carry the lettering 'Coronation' on the coach sides and was often used for special trains with appropriate destination boards. £500 for the Set of Eight Coaches.
