LDS008. BR (LNER Designed) Thompson Class B1 4-6-0 and Tender No. 61379 'Mayflower'. In lined BR gloss black with early crest and shedplate 40B Immingham. This is an older, used, substantial and weighty model probably scratchbuilt or part scratch/part kit. Fitted with solid cast wheels, a Maxon motor with a Ron Chaplin heavy duty multi-stage gearbox, American pickup system and basic cab detail. There is some minor paint loss predominantly around the front of the smokebox. The prototype was into service from North British Locomotive Company (Glasgow) to Colwick in June 1951. A month later it moved to Immingham and at that time it was named 'Mayflower' and carried a plaque stating 'This locomotive was named Mayflower 13th July 1951 as a symbol of the ties between the two towns of Boston and of the lasting friendship between the USA and the British Commonwealth'. It stayed at Immingham until withdrawal in August 1962 and may have been damaged in some way as it was in Doncaster Works at the end of July and they decided not to repair it. PRICE REDUCTION TO £495.
